If you’re passing through the North End on any given weekend and you hear a raucous, chances are you could be in Liz Ford’s neighborhood.

What makes this Iowa City young professional laugh, she says, are her friends and just being silly.

“I so love Iowa City,” she said. “I live in an old neighborhood and I have these old friends and we get together on the weekends and it's really special.”

They eat, drink some wine, play music, dance and make up new words to old songs. And laugh — a lot.

Ford lives with her husband, Jack Klapper, and their two dogs, Zoey, a Doberman pincer, and Franco, a smooth coated terrier.

Her husband and dogs make her laugh quite a bit, too, she says, but the friends in her ’hood — who range in age from their late 30s into their 50s — are what keep a smile on her face.

“Laughability and silliness doesn’t seem to be age related,” she says.
