Lute Olson
Age: 75. Iowa basketball coach (1974-83), left Iowa City as the winningest coach in Hawkeye history (168-90) to coach downtrodden Arizona in Tempe because life in Iowa was like “living in a fishbowl.” A North Dakota native and father of five, his Iowa teams won one Big Ten title and made five NCAA tournament appearances, including the 1980 Final Four, losing to eventual champ Louisville. Retiring in 2008 after 25 spectacular years at Arizona, his career record ranks among the nation’s best, and his 46 NCAA tournament wins were one more than Bob Knight and one less than John Wooden.
