William Hines

Age: 73. Longest serving UI law school dean (1976-2004) and faculty since 1962, helped develop the school’s national reputation, student body and faculty, including planning and funding a new building opened in 1986. A Kansas native and father of three, he earned Kansas undergraduate and law degrees, and was a graduate fellow at Harvard Law School. An environmental law expert, he served on the local planning and zoning commission, and was a founder and past president of Johnson County Heritage Trust. He currently is editing and writing a portion of a “History of the Iowa Law School, 1865-2010.”
